From what I have read this recipe was created in the late 1800's   My Mom used to make this when we were kids. The egg yolks after being run through a sieve resemble Golden Rod pollen

Having grown up on an Iowa farm, I'm really surprised we didn't have this to eat, since we had all the eggs and milk available. I think I'll make it for my Dad when I next visit him, as he loves hard boiled eggs.

I am 62 years old and my Grandmother made this for me when I was a young child. As a matter of fact, she used to tell the story that she asked me one morning what I wanted for breakfast and I said "those eggs" she didn't know what eggs I meant so she ended up cooking 3-4 different egg dishes, trying to satisfy my request. She finally got it right. She called them Golden Rod Eggs on Toast. I remembered the name from that time on. Good memories.....thanks!

It is funny how so many things in nature inspire cooking ideas.  They make cooking even more fun.
