In Response to Re: DESSERTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS????:
gale, my sister sent me this recipe last year she has a great pie talent and swears that when she ate this one it was the best she had ever eaten since mama's so i'll give it to you because we really enjoyed it too i used brown sugar and white syrup, but that can be reversed. Merle's Pecan Pie 3 eggs, whipped 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. corn syrup pinch salt 1 t. vanilla 1/4 c. butter, melted 1 c. pecan pieces 1 9 inch pastry shell Put the pecan pieces in bottom of pie shell. Mix the rest of the ingredients together and pour over pecans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50-60 mins.

Thanks Nellie,This sounds good to me I just wanted a simple buttery pecan pie and I think this is it! I like to taste what is supposted to be and not masked by other things. We were watching a program ( not a cooking show ) and the girl was eating pecan pie and my son said that's what I want! The pecans were layed out on top very neatly so I'll put some on the bottom and more on top I also like the idea of less sugar I love pecan pie but some are so sweet I get the willy's from it lol! Bakers square years ago made a wonderful pecan pie you could taste the butter in it.I don't think they are as good as they once were..Thanks again Nellie
