Gale thank you.  This sounds like it will be great for a fall dinner.  Quick and easy as well.  There isn't much that has to do with bacon that I won't try. The noodles and bacon sound good by them selves.
It reminds me of a recipe a friend told me about.
1 pound of Spatzle
1 container (about 1 pound) of sauerkraut, drained and I rinse it as well.
Swiss cheese, about 1/2 pound.
Spray  casserole dish with cooking spray.
Boil Spatzle.
Layer 1/2 the spatzle, 1/2 the sauerkraut, 1/2 the cheese repeat the layers.
Bake at 350 until top layer of cheese is browned and bubbly. 30 to 45 minutes.

A neighbor of mine gave me a similar recipe using noodles & bacon.  After browning the bacon, she added coarsely chopped cabbage to the skillett and cooked til tender but be sure it is still a bit crunchy.  Then add the noodles to the skillet and heat through.  Her recipe did not use cottage cheese.
I have a recipe using cottage cheese and noodles which adds some sour cream to the mix then bake it topped with shredded cheddar cheese.
I like them all and now I'm getting hungry thinking about them.

Here's an old great one .....

BON'S CABBAGE CASSEROLE
Brown 1 lb ground beef with lots of onions.
Add two cans of tomato soup and 1/2 can milk.
Add 2 heaping tablespoons of raw long grain rice and cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile grease a large baking dish and add one head of cabbage cut into large slices slightly separated.
Pour hamburger over the cabbage.  Bake one hour at 400*

I chop the cabbage a bit so it's easier to serve.

This is like what my neighbor made and called easy cabbage "rolls" - easier to do and serve and just as delicious.
Thanks, I had nearly forgotten about this one.

Hi Nikki,If you do make it really fried it,It brings out a most wonderful flavor ,grated cabbage I think tastes better but that is my personal opinion, just stir often over a medium to low heat so it doesn't burn.I have to make this tonight because I have a head of cabbage in the refrigerater that is screaming at me.lol lol lol
