5 large eggs separated,1 cup of sugar,2Tbls of cocoa,1/4 cup of flour plus 2Tbls flour,1teas.baking powder,1/2 teas.salt 1 teas. vanilla.Beat egg yolks and sugar until thick and yellow colored.sift dry ingredients and beat in.mix in 1 teas.vanilla.beat egg whites until stiff peaks appear, fold into the first mixture.grease and flour a jelly roll pan.pour the batter into the pan and bake @ 375* for 15 minutes.Sift powder sugar on the roll when it is done and out of the oven roll immediatly and allow to cool on cooling rack. You do not need a towel to roll it up.When cool unroll and fill with one pint of heavy whipping cream that you have whipped with 2Tabls.of sugar.Spread over the roll and rollup wrap in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4-6 hrs.You can spinkle with powdered sugar when it is being served.I promise you this is one of the most wonderful things that you will ever put in your mouth. You can flavor your whipped cream if you would want to,but believe me this will stand on it's own just plain the way it is.Please let me know with any ?'s and if you do bake it let me know what you think of it.This is also one of my Mom's recipes that have been with me all my life and will be pasted on to my boys.Merry Christmas everyone !

That sure sounds GOOD .... but difficult too.  When I read that other recipe I actually went out and bought a nice jelly roll pan!!
Now please tell me where I can buy some nerve and confidence.

Hi Nancy,I noticed on one of your posts that you have a Kichen Aide Mixer.Let the mixer do the work, this is kind of a intermediate recipe not hard at all I gave my son my kitchen aide when he got Married I have my Mom's old Hobart mixer it's the smallest professional mixer she bought it from a restaurant supply company 65-70 years ago and it still works ,It's so old that it uses a fuse like the household fuses use to be. LOL that is my old faithful.I love using it it keeps me close to her.Now Nancy get your mixer going and go make one of these you won't be sorry.

Hi Susan and thanks,I hope that you try this recipe it is so good.My mom used to make this during the holidays.I love rich deserts but not sweet that is a real cringe factor for me.I love anything with whipped cream or ricotta and I even started making my own ricotta, what a diffence between that and store bought.I love messing around in the kitchen, what amazes me most about cooking and baking is being able to make so many different things using the same ingredients.Oh and I have to tell you I love your dog,so cute. How old is he?

Susan, the comment on Gales picture is funny, I did not think a Jack Russell would stay still long enough to have a photo taken.
Both of your dogs are very cute.

Hi Susan that's Rocky,He is 13 in that photo,he's now 15 and he's not doing to well. He's blind and deaf and having trouble getting around. He is a Chihuahua,Terrier mix not sure what type of terrier. He is my baby and I'm probaly the only person he has totally trusted, not to fond of strangers. My son put that bunch of oak leaves on his head and I took the picture through the screen door.I was looking at Jack Russels, but ended up with Romeo a Basenji Doxy mix.

Gale...

I am so very sorry to hear that about Rocky!  It is hard to see them that way because they are part of the family.  Bless his heart!

Susan I am sitting here with my mini doxie on my lap as I read about your dog.
Gale your dog is a cutie as well.
They do wrap them selves around our hearts as Sharon said.  I think that is because we can tell them all our "deep dark secrets" and unburden ourselves to them knowing that our secrets and frustrations will go no further.  When you have a really bad day it is truly nice to come home to a wagging tail and bright eyes that are happy to see you. And all they want back is food, water, some attention, a treat and a lap to curl up on.  Even the German Shepherd I had years ago wanted to curl up on my lap, she was happy with putting her head on my lap though.

Gale, Thank you so much for reposting this recipe! It looks like an awesome recipe, just like
I would do to a pumpkin roll up. I have all these La Pura extract and flavorings, strawberry,
cherry, black cherry, and black raspberry. I think these would be great to try in it and would
look really colorful and taste great. I just got out a bottle to look at it and it is made by a
guy in Venedocia, Ohio. lol lol
