I viewed the recipe for chocolate chip easter baskets and am interested in making an alternative recipe. However, I want to use sugar cookie dough and make a cup to add butterscotch pudding and top with whipped cream. I attempted this but when the cookie dough baked, i could not create a cup to add the pudding. Any suggestions. I have a grandaughter that only likes sugar cookies. Thought the pudding/topping would be a good easter treat for her/friends.

Hi Joyce - welcome to VBB.
I'm no professional and I'm just guessing but I would use the cupcake tins to form a "basket" with the raw dough.  And when they came out of the oven I would quickly do more to shape a basket or cup.
Good luck

I would do what Nancy suggests.
The other way to do it would be to make the cookie dough and press it into the muffin tin.  Take a piece of parchment paper and lay it in the "cup" and weight it down. Use dry beans, raw rice or a wad of aluminum foil.
I think that your cookie may crack when you try to shape it around the tin. but there are cookies that do well in shaping them after baking but most of them are very soft prior to baking.  Almost like a "paste" rather than a dough.
Good luck hope they turn out great.  It sounds like a good tasting treat.

I worked in a deli and I baked for them. I made peanut butter cookies like this and put a dollop of milk chocolate frosting in them when they cooled. We made mini and large ones.Spray the muffin pans with oil, roll the cookie dough into a ball and place it in the muffin tin.Bake, the cookie will rise on the sides and drop in the middle as it cools. After they are baked allow to cool a few minutes carefully remove from the muffin tins and cool completely on a cooling rack.Fill as desired.I would think just about any cookie dough could be made like this. These sold out everyday, one of the more popular cookies that we sold. They were called peanut butter thingies as named by our customers.

Well Gale doing it that way is what I would call "Stupid Easy"  Why is it that we try to make things more complicated than what needs to be.  If by just rolling the dough into a ball will give the same results it seems silly to try to shape them.  I just may have to try this for my Grandkids.

Sounds like a winning suggestion, Gale!  Wish I had someone special to make them for.  My Grandchildren all live too far away.  I used to have fun baking for them when the two older ones lived close.  Montana and Connecticut are too far away!  Cincinnati is a little closer; but not close enough!

Sounds like something I will do for my grandchildren for Easter.
I always like to give them something different each year. It
is getting harder to fine things to do.  My oldest is 19 and the
youngest of 7 is one year old.

That's the nice thing about these baking people.  Somebody has an answer for each question/problem.

I plan to make these for my family for Easter.  I will make a batch just like the recipe then I will make a batch using brownie mix.  My family likes lots of chocolate.  :)   Seems like a simple and tasty recipe.

Carolyn, welcome to the site.  Let me know how your cookies turn out.  And you can't go wrong making a brownie.

Just found this conversation.  Since Easter is long over, maybe I won't make the original "basket" recipe lol.

A great big "THANK YOU" to Gale for the how-to on the bakery cookies.  Always good to learn from each other.
