In my oven this morning is a Blueberry-Sour Cream cake to celebrate my neighbor's 85th bityhday!  Wow, will she be surprised when I take it to her this afternoon!  It's a new recipe I 've never tried but it smells wonderful and she is a good "taste tester!"

Here is the one I use:

Blueberry-Sour Cream Cake
serves 12
Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 5/8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the batter just until blended. Fold in blueberries.
  3. Spoon half of the batter into the prepared pan. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the pan. Spoon remaining batter over the top, and then sprinkle the remaining pecan mixture over. Use a knife or thin spatula to swirl the sugar layer into the cake.
  4. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the crown of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan over a wire rack. Invert onto a serving plate, and tap firmly to remove from the pan. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.  Enjoy

All you have to do to print the recipe is highlight it, click on your "file" and open it and click on "print". My printer lets me set it to do a quick print in black and I chose that and clicked on "selection" instead of all or page numbers and hit apply and then print. It printed right out.

Susan - that won't work for me - or -  I can't make it work.
I can't get anything to drop down or "as selected on screen".
It wants to print 6 pages for me.

What I do -- the long way -- is to highlight whatever I want to copy and put it on a letter to myself, sent that letter and print it after it arrives.  Of course I don't have just the recipe but ..... well, it's all that works for me with my oh,so limited computer knowledge

Nancy...

After you select print preview, the screen on the top will have a box with the selection "As laid out on screen".  You will also see there a arrow pointing down.  Click on the arrow and a box drops down giving you another option which is "As selected on screen", click on that and after you click on that, the print preview will show you just the recipe, then click on the printer icon.  Try this and please let me know if that helps!

Oh my goodness, Susan --- IT WORKED!!
Thank you.
I put that in an email to myself - then added the second set.  I mailed it myself (like I do everything that I want copied) so I'd have some written instructions -- necessary for me - and IT WORKED.
Thank you
I'll keep my written instructions until it all sinks it and I can do it.

Susan, I am astonished and very grateful.  I am such a hopeless thing when trying to learn anything and - IT WORKED!
It worked first try with your second set of instructions.
I copied the first set of instructions andan remember.
Thank you - Bless your kind and patient heart.

Embarassed  Please don't laugh....Ok, take it slow ladies, you are "talking" to an almost computer illiterate person.
How do I "highlight" the recipe.  I got the print, but that prints all the posts on the page.

Nikki...

To highlight, take the cursor and place in on the first letter of the first word, click and hold with the left button on the mouse and just drag to the right and down...and it will highlight.  Then release the left button and place the cursor on the highlight and right click with the mouse and then click on print preview.  Then follow the details that I written for Nancy.  If you need anymore help, just ask...I will keep an eye out for your post!

Please let me know if it works for you!

Nancy...

YEAH....WOOHOO!!!  Great job Nancy and you are soo very welcome, I am glad that I could help you.

I work with computers every day and with different programs and I could not understand why I could not just copy a recipe and then all of a sudden, it clicked in my brain.  I guess I was slow on the uptake!  lol

It's really easy once you do it and just think all the paper and ink you will save!!  That's a good thing!

It's a good thing .... it's a good thinK.
I find it so amazing that in addition to to "just" copying ... I see a part of this little computer that I didn't even know existed.

I wonder what else is on here ....................
