In Response to Re: Biscuits!!!hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :  Yes that method will give you a workable substitue for buttermilk but I have several recipes which use buttermilk and I thnk the real thing gives better results in terms of texture and moistness.  I use buttermilk in pancakes, waffles and muffins.  A couple of my cake recipes which were handed down from my mom also use buttermilk.  Therefore there is usually buttermilk in my fridge.

Ways to make the biscuits extra special:  after rolling out the dough to approximately 1/4 inch, (be sure to use a light touch on the rolling pin as the dough is quite tender) spread with a bit of soft butter then  you choice of jam or preserves - cherry, apricot, orange marmalade - any of these are yummy.  Roll up jelly roll fashion and cut into sections (try a length of thread or string, slide under roll, cross over top and pull opposite ends to cut through the dough.  this method keeps them round, a knife sometimes sqoushes them flat.)  Place cut side down on greased baking sheet or in greased muffin tins.  I bake them at 375 to 400 for about 15 - 20 mins.  Depends on your oven - mine seems a bit slow sometimes.

I hope you enjoy these ideas.
