My best friends birthday is in a week, and I wanted to make him either a cake or a cookie cake; but I want to make it different. Any ideas?

A cookie cake ?!?  What fun.
You could use a batch of chocolate morsel  cookie dough to make 3 giant cookies instead of the usual 5 dozen.
Frost two cooled cookies witn melted chocolate morsels and stack them together.  Frost the third, the top of the stack,
with frosting or chocolate whipped cream or drizzled melted morsels.

Or frost two of them with lots of ICE CREAM, stack together and frost with whipped cream.......... sprinkle tiny morsels on top.

I never thought of making a cookie cake.  My son would love that.

And ..... There are several chocolate chip "cake" recipes on this site ..... Isn't it simply the regular cookie recipe baked in a 9x13" pan?  That would make a delicious and easy birthday cake.

A 9x13 chocolate chip "cake" could easily be divided into three 9 x4 1/3"  slices.  Remove one slice amnd put it on a serving plate - frost it - chocolate whipped cream? Vanilla ice cream? Both?
Top that iced slice with a second slice and frost it.  Top with the third slice, frost it and the sides of the others.  Delicious!

Make him a tiered cup-cake cake. The individual serving make it easy to share and you can make multiple combinations of flavors and icings choices.

Welcome tiff c and Laurena T to VBB, glad to have you join in on our discussions!

tiff c...

Gee...there is so many types of cakes that you can make.  Do you have any ideas as to what he likes?

Here are a few suggestions, Choc. Cake with a Butter Cream icing, or Van. cake with a butter cream or you can even use Cool Whip and put slice Strawberries in between the layers and then top the cake with whole and slice Strawberries.  For something quick, buy an Angel Food Cake and icing it with Cool Whip and top with his favorite fruit (blueberries, strawberries, maraschino cherries, etc.).  But I must say, I like Nancy G's idea too but then she is our Cookie Queen here on VBB!  We just love her!!

I hope these ideas help you!

I've made a cookie cake before and used a sugar cookie crust with frosting and assorted fruit and candies for the topping.  The kids loved it!!  :)

Great ideas Nancy and Susan.  I love the 3 layer cookie cake idea.

Betty, there are some really cute ideas for mini cheesecakes on this site.  I made the ones with the vanilla wafers for my 25th anniversary and they were enjoyed by all of our guests.  If you type in mini cheescakes in the search box it will probably bring up quite a few recipes.  You could do the same thing for appetizers since I know there are a lot of those too.
