Thanks,GALE; lots of good info there Iused to eat them w/ a spoonjust asyou wrote, no needto get fussy & work hard.
Like BARBARA mentioned; they are good on top of ( tortila )soup; so pretty too. I like mine, sliced on top of chili.
In Boise, IDAHO, i once enjoyed them, halved & filled / crabmeat salad @ a ladies' luncheon;really a lovely dish for company
I was told to let them ripen on top of the refrigerator & hope the cat(s) don't knock them off & roll them around the floorI usually ripenthem in a paper bag w/an apple; just as you said; this works for all pitted fruits( plums; peaches, etc.
In Response to Re: AVOCADOS; DOYOU LIKE THEM????????????????:
I love, love, love them even plain with a little salt spinkled on and I eat them scooped out with a spoon.I could eat these until I die from them and they might just kill me.LOL My husband won't even taste them and I finally got my son to taste them and he loves them too.We do prefer the Haas avocado over the larger one from Florida.I always buy them unripe,if you gently push down on your hand ,the fleshy part between your thumb and fore finger, that is what a ripe avocado feels like.If you need them ripe faster, you can put them in a paper bag along with an apple. It should be ripe in a few days.
