I vote for apple pie!  You don't need much more than apples and a few spices.  There are some good ones here on this site.  Or you can make a cobbler to skip the pie crust.  I never have been very good at those.

Hi  I have made the mountain dew apple dumplings made with crescent rolls. 2 ( 8 count) cans refrigerated crescent rolls,3 -4 apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges, 1 cup butter, 1-1/2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon ( I add alittle more), 1 can (12 ounces) mountain dew.  Directions: Heat oven to 350 F. Grease lightly a 13X9 inch baking dish. Separate dough into 16 triangles. Place apple quarter on shortest side of triangle.  Roll up each, starting at shortest side, and rolling to opposite point. Place pointed side down.      Melt the butter stir in cinnamon and sugar.  Spoon  evenly over each crescent rolled apple.  Pour mountain dew over all.  Bake at 350 F for 35 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven or until apples are tender.  Serve with sauce.  Top with whipped topping or ice cream while warm.YUMM

Retaj, you could just bake the apples and serve them for dessert.  Core the apples, place in a baking dish.  Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar (or white suger) with about 2 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine.  Place the mix in the middle of the apples and bake until the apples are soft.  Sometimes I add raisins to the mixture too.

The baking time depends on what kind of apples you have.  Firm apples like red delicious or granny smith take longer. Macintosh or golden delicious take less time.

I have an apple tree and during the season I have many apples.  My favorite use is applesauce.  It is easily made in the microwave and can be frozen easily.  Use Zip Lock freezer bags and it will store flat in your freezer:
             Applesauce
4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and quartered
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup sugar ( or to taste depending on type of apple)
1/2 tsp cinnamon(optional)
Place apples, and water in 1 1/2 quart casserole.  Cover.  Microwave 10 min on high, or until apples are tender, stirring well after 5 min.  Mash apples with fork or place in food processor to process.  Stir in sugar and cinnamon (if used)  Cool.
The amount of water can also be varied as some apples are juicier than others.  This recipe can be used successfully with nearly every variety of apples.  ( I have Golden Delicious on my tree)

For the recipe do you just replace the frut with apples?
Can it be fresh?
Because the recipe says canned
Can you tell me the amount of apples?
Thanks!

I just cube 2 apples in a microwave safe bowl, add a few red hots or a little cinnamon sugar, sprinkle a little water on & nuke till tender. Serve on ice cream, oatmeal or just eat plain.
Usually the cinnamon smell gets to the hubby & he has some even though when I ask before I make them he says no thanks.

You can use fresh, frozen or canned fruit, yes just use the apples instead of fruit. About 4 cups of apple, you might get four cups out of the 7 that you have if they are large enough.

Saute the apples with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon and serve with grilled pork chops!

Gee, all the recipes sound delicious.  I don't have opportunity to bake much with apples.  Somebody in this house!!....namely the husband eats them all before I can get around to baking.  When we go to the fresh outdoor market on Saturday, I will get some extra so I can try a couple of the recipes mentioned.  Thanks, everyone, for some great ideas!!

Susan B --welcome to VBB.   You just reminded me of a wonderful but long forgotten treat.  When I was a kid we ate "fried apples' as a vegetable all winter long.
Apples just sliced into a skillet with lots of butter and sugar.  Now I'll have to do that again soon.
