I have an apple tree and during the season I have many apples. My favorite use is applesauce. It is easily made in the microwave and can be frozen easily. Use Zip Lock freezer bags and it will store flat in your freezer: Applesauce4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and quartered1/2 cup water3/4 cup sugar ( or to taste depending on type of apple)1/2 tsp cinnamon(optional)Place apples, and water in 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cover. Microwave 10 min on high, or until apples are tender, stirring well after 5 min. Mash apples with fork or place in food processor to process. Stir in sugar and cinnamon (if used) Cool. The amount of water can also be varied as some apples are juicier than others. This recipe can be used successfully with nearly every variety of apples. ( I have Golden Delicious on my tree)
