One of the gifts that we gave our 10 year old granddaughter was one of those giant cup cake molds. We also included cake mixes, cans of frosting and assorted sprinkles/decorations. I haven't heard. If

I saw the cupcakes already made, but not the pan to make them.  I think I will stick with what I have.  I hate ending up with pans (or any items) that just take up space.

My sister-in-law bought it & has used it several times.  She loves it but it does take a lot of cake mixes.  It's also sold in Bed Bath & Beyond where she got hers.  It's definitely a centerpiece talkabout!!!  Easy to carry too.  If you're creative, the filling ideas are endless but remember, you need a lot of filling, icing, sprinkles & the more filling, the heavier it is to carry.  The slices are huge if you cut from top to bottom like a normal cake/pie.  Otherwise you can cut the top half than the bottom halk but the top half won't get the filling & the bottom half won't get the icing.

Those dome pans are great for gelatin salads. You can put one in the middle and another type around it.

I just use a rounded stainless steelor pyrex bowl and have made everything from a bowling ball to a huge snowball like Hostessmakes complete with the creme filling, and coconut topping.  It was a big hit especially when the temperature was about 100 drgrees out we had snowball cake to eat.  I still have to send my snow cake recipe.  Its angel food cake with pineapple and cool whip.  Someone please remind me to get that to the group.

There should be a way we could set up a "Use it Once and Swap It" site. That would be great for the pans you buy that look great and once you try it the pan goes into the cabinet, then to the basement or garage then to the resale shop. Go to the site and find the pan you want, rent it and return it.  If you find you like the pan and would continue to use it the pan would be available for purchase. I have pans I got taking a cake decorating class, I have the stupid silicone pans, I have the dome pan, there is a sectioned cake pan (makes cakes with slices already cut due to a divider that is placed in the pan sort of like the brownie pan but this is a round cake pan.) There are sites like this for purses why not pans or other gadgets.

A fluted deep dish pie pan may work for that huge cupcake of course with some support to hold the sides up.  I would use a sheet of tripple foil folded into a 2" strip and go completely around the middle of the cupcake.  I have make several cakes using the old tried and true and with the help of a coconut cookbook which shows how to make all sorts of cakes.  Bunnies out of a round cake and so forth.  Even made a lamb from a round cake.  I cut one layer in half to get the body and went from there.  I used to have an imagination when I was capable of baking...LOL

I've bought a couple of "As seen on TV" items and really like them.  But, one of them I have since found at half the price in the stores.  But a lot of them are junk.  How many items has my sister bought and been disappointed and sent them back?  And, beware of those deals where you buy one and get another for free, you just pay for the shipping and handling?  You're really paying for that item.  My suggestion for most of them - wait until they come out in the store and you can see what you're buying.

I have not seen it but I have enough pans and no extra room to store extra.  I have been trying to go through closets, cupboards, blanket and my cedar chese a ts to save for a one year sale the community has in May. Then storing that stuff until the sale!  Then off to a Christian organization.  You all have a Super Day!
