One of the gifts that we gave our 10 year old granddaughter was one of those giant cup cake molds. We also included cake mixes, cans of frosting and assorted sprinkles/decorations. I haven't heard. If she talked her mother into making it yet, but I wondered if anyone else has done this?

I've seen these in the store and in ads but I just can't bring myself to buy it lol.   With all the different kinds of pans that I have already it takes up a lot of room.   Hope your grandaughter has fun with it.

I bought it for a friend last March and she made it . She made a chocolate cake with cream chees filling. It turned out great and she would tell you her baking skills are that of a 10 year old! Really cute cake, but a little difficult to cut and serve.

I haven't made it yet, but bought a baking pan for it yesterday.  It's heavy duty metal so it probably isn't quite the same as the "seen on tv" one but should do the trick.

Haven't bought or used one.  Have seen them.  Have a lot of baking pans and running out of room to store more.  Thought I woud pass on ths one.

Let us know how your granddaughter likes it.

This sounds like a good, lot of fun recipe but, for me, I can't imagine spending $$ on a seldom used pan --
 and where on earth would I store that pan?

I figure if I really want one I will wait for it to show up at a yard sale, Goodwill or Salvation Army.  I will pay less than $3 dollars for it make one "cupcake" and probably donate it back.
It looks like it would be a good "center piece" for a birthday party but a bit of a problem to cut and serve.  And I like frosting so unless I cut out the center and filled it there is a lot of cake compared to the frosting.

Does anyone remember the cake pan a few years back that looked like a dome...I thought i needed it and i had planned on making all kinds of cakes with it ...i used it once and it went into storage about 6 years ago...will prbably go to the thrift store when i  clean out  the storage unit

I got one also, it was a closeout at Bed Bath and Beyond, and I used a 20% off coupon so price was OK but you used your pan once more than I have used mine!

Those dome pans are great for gelatin salads. You can put one in the middle and another type around it.

There should be a way we could set up a "Use it Once and Swap It" site.
That would be great for the pans you buy that look great and once you try it the pan goes into the cabinet, then to the basement or garage then to the resale shop.
Go to the site and find the pan you want, rent it and return it.  If you find you like the pan and would continue to use it the pan would be available for purchase.
I have pans I got taking a cake decorating class, I have the stupid silicone pans, I have the dome pan, there is a sectioned cake pan (makes cakes with slices already cut due to a divider that is placed in the pan sort of like the brownie pan but this is a round cake pan.)

There are sites like this for purses why not pans or other gadgets.
