i'm sorry to take so long getting back on this
this was good, but a nightmare for me in the making of it and i'm still frustrated over it all.
I was supposed to have help, no shows,  but I had thawed the ingredients and decided to try. I put my regular mixer (not supposed to lift it) on the counter and got out a hand chopper I use
I weighed out 4 ozs pretzels, put them in a zip top bag and tried to break by hand, they were those small mini's and impossible so I dropped them on floor and stomped for a while, put them in the chopper w/ 1/4 cup sugar and put a stick of butter in m.w. to melt and started trying to crank the chopper    and my g.s. showed up to take out the garbage (in a big hurry)  he also tried to turn it  and helped me change over to a small elec. processor which after a while did the job so I added the butter and he left
my suppose helper called and said that she needed to go somewhere else  and it would be several hours before she got back      of course I guilted her out and she and her d.i.l. came immediately  and it was going well until they mis-measured the cool whip and put most of it in the main mix
I think that's why the appearance and texture of mine is different       but the taste is really great, very rich
the crust is very good  but it falls apart, but it's not soggy and in the bite it is nutty

lesson learned     use larger pretzels

Good

Thanks for the info Nellie.  I think you have convinced me to use a spring form pan so it will be easy to remove the bottom.  I also think I will drag out the food processor to get the pretzels chopped up better.
I think this may also require a bit of pre baking the crust so it does not crumble.  I know I have taken a no bake dessert and baked it but if it will make the crust not fall apart it might be worth 8 to 10 minutes in the oven.

my main problem with the pretzels, I think was the size of the ones I used, minis  were so hard to break them up initially before I put them in the chopper, the size of the finished crumble was fine------it just took so long to get there
do you think a little more butter might help?

I think baking the crust would set it better.  I have always been disappointed in most crusts that have not been baked. I think the flavor is better anyway.
