I just felt the need to tell you my wife, who passed in 2000, loved your carnation milk. It was the only brand of evaporated milk we ever bought, mainly for putting in her coffee, but also for baking and potatoes.  Just felt the need. I'm missing her and she would have loved this site.

John, just to let you know I understand your need to post this message.  If it helps any, I have read many of your posts and have often thought...why can't I find a husband that can cook like this guy!  Your wife was a lucky woman!  For over 10 years I was a caregiver and when I miss one of those that I had the honor of taking care of at the end of their life, I talk about them.  Not a whole lot, just a funny story or special memory.  Then I feel better and move on.  Best of luck to you.

All I want my recipe sites to do is be there, allow me to sign in and browse, keep my favorite recipes in my recipe box and trade ideas with other bakers.  I haven't logged on since you stopped sending me newletters and it seems all I missed was a headache.  Why is it necessary to 'fix' sites so that you have to be computer friendly to enjoy it. John...

Thanks for sharing such a nice memory of your wife.  Always hold on to your memories John...they are precious!

You know, I never gave it a thought to use evaporated milk in my mash potatoes...I bet that's good.  Thanks, I got to try that!

John, would you care to share a funny story about you and your wife? What was one of the best meals she made?
By the way my mom and grandma used the Carnation milk for Mac-N-Cheese and I grew up eating the "BESTEST" Mac-N-Cheese in the whole wide world!  They also used it for mashed potatoes and for most casseroles as well.  I got away from it for a while mainly because when the kids were still at home I always had milk in the house so I would use that.  Now that there are no kids most of the time I am getting back to keeping Carnation milk in the cupboard.  It has a much longer shelf life than a gallon of milk and the results of most recipes are much richer and creamier.

I have used the chat feature on VBB and have found it to be a quality feature!

First time I have seen this one. The ranking amount of points(86635) is different than the header(86535). I'm sure it will balance out in the long run as we still have nothing to do with the points earned.

In Response to Re: What's new on Very Best Baking : Susan: So sorry we missed your post over the holidays!  So we don't miss any future questions, please share them in the "Got a Question for VBB? Ask It Here!" thread.  We appreciate your continued contributions to the board and you are very important to this site...it wouldn't exist without VBBers like you. 1. Private Messaging is coming back next month; we will update you if this changes. 2. Message Board font size: we are working to fix this next month as well but hope we can deliver this for you sooner.

Nikki, private messaging allowed you to chose from one or several people to invite onto a private page and no one except those who you invited could see what was being typed except the administrators. You could safely exchange email addresses, private info, etc. without the entire world being able to see it.

Susan:

Message board font size will be fixed this month.  We have the same goal for Private Messaging but aren't quite sure how it will work on the new site.  We hope to share the details of exactly when this week.

Was I the only one that was offered a gift from VBB?  It's suppose to come in the mail.

Nope...our reward for sticking with it during the problems they have had.  Just waiting to see what goodies are on the way.

No one from VBB contacted me. Guess I had too many problems and too big a mouth.
