Yesterday so many of my cookies made a giant hit and people wanted recipes.  I promised print outs. Last night I started printing recipes with no problems until I got to "Ice Cream Sundae NESTLE

Yesterday so many of my cookies made a giant hit and people wanted recipes. I promised print outs.
Last night I started printing recipes with no problems until I got to "Ice Cream Sundae NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Cookies".
Over and over I tried to print that and every time everything froze and I had to restart my computer.
To see what was happening I tried a different recipe and that worked fine.
Back to Ice Cream Sundae and more "crashes".
This morning I had the same results ..... I still can't print that recipe.
Is this my computer or yours?

Hi again :-)
I was able to go to that recipe and just click on my computer's printer icon and not try to do things correctly.... did not click on Nestle's instructions.
Of all things -- I DID get a copy of the recipe with LARGER PRINT. It took two pages of paper and the almost invisible color of ink.
I don't like that but I can cut and paste in real life. lol lol

Nancy, it wasn't just you. It locked my system up also and when I rebooted, it had signed me out too. And when I tried to reply to your post, it will not allow it either.

Hello Wa-Ha K ... Thanks!! I'm so glad to hear that. Not that you've had trouble but that it's probably not my fault.
I never had to re-sign in and had no trouble replying to other posts .... and I was able to start this one but I sure had trouble over and over only on that one recipe.

We'd love to help troubleshoot. Can you share what browser (ex. Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox) you are using? Also, what kind of connection do you have (ex. dial-up or DSL)?

I'm on Charter and they claim something faster than DSL.
And I use IE something (see how helpful I am?) Windows Vista. I think it's what happened before Windows 7.

(hee hee -- my usual answer when someone asks me what I use is ..... "oh, I use a little gray metal thing.")

Just to see if anything had changed, right after I wrote the above message, I went to Ice Cream Sundae cookies and tried to print.
Same old thing -- everything froze and I had to turn off this miserable machine and restart.
As usual it was upset because I did not practice correct shutting down steps.
When I finally got back here, I went to the recipe Easy Chocolate Fudge to see how that worked. It printed fast and perfect.

Well, not perfect.... that tiny, simple recipe took two pages of paper and the print is so small and pale, I can barely read it.

I used IE 7 & I also tried it with Mozilla Firefox. They both failed. I have windows XP 2000 and a landline. I use Google as my search engine and I tried it with Yahoo also. No go.

Nancy, IE is computerese for Internet explorer.

Just the Sundae Cookies. But the site is SSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW! All the other sites I go to load right away. This one leaves me sitting here trying to stay awake. And, I still have issues with signing in.

Nancy, you said you have Windows Vista so try this site for research and tutoring. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Basics-all-topics I go there to trouble shoot sometimes. Keep it in your favorites/bookmarked for quick reference.

Another free site is http://www.top-windows-tutorials.com/Windows-Vista-Tutorials.html

I am glad I use IE 7! I had IE 8 (free upgrade) but, I kept getting struck with viruses, etc. so, my niece who is a computer tech, told me to take it off and go back to IE 7 and Mozilla Firefox.

Thank you Cam ... I now have those two sites as Favorites so I can find them again later and try to learn. That "top-windows" one sure looks the best.
I think this little lap top is starting to just wear out and it's time to buy a new. But, as I've said before, I am afraid of getting a new one ... how on earth do you get your precious old stuff in it?
(believe it or not ... I've been using/loving these things since 1998.)

Nancy, when I bought my new computer 4 years ago, I was concerned too that I would not be able to get the info loaded off of my old hard drive. My grandson and granddaughter did it for me using special cables we bought that allowed them to transfer all the material I wanted to have transferred onto the new computer. It went very smoothly. Talk to someone at your local computer supply house and they can probably guide you through it. It didn't seem at all complicated to me and I am anything but IT savvy.

When you say the site is slow, do you mean your responses on the message board are slower than before or that the content portion of the site loads slowly? Can you describe your signing in symptoms more? Apologies for all the questions, we just want to help you get to the bottom of this!
