Early December is still the estimate.  In the meantime, are there particular recipes we can search the database for and post here?

Can't think of any, VBB, but thanks for the offer!  I'm just waiting to get mine back in my recipe box so I can see which ones I need for the Christmas season!
Thanks again and I hope all the VBB associates enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!

John, Just an idea but you might want to print off an extra copy for yourself just in case VBB decides to update again in a few years. (Just don't forget to update it once a year.)

I print every single recipe I see and like... every one I want to save.
I can't understand just saving them.
When you want to use a certain saved recipe, don't you have to print it out?

Nancy, I, too, normally print out the recipes I want to save and use. However, my printer was misbehaving at times and would not print. So those recipes I couldn't print out yet and I just saved them to my recipe box to print later. Other times, I was in a hurry and didn't take time to print them right out so saved them to my recipe box to also print later. I'm just hoping they will ALL reappear in my recipe box so I CAN print them out!

I don't print each recipe I want to keep, I save them to my documents section on my computer.  I have a folder called "online recipes I want to try" and I have this folder broken down by type of recipe, i.e. breakfast, cookies, main meals, etc.  I have this folder backed up on a separate disk in case the computer crashes.  That way, I'll always have my collection of recipes.  If I want to print one, I go to my documents folder and pull out the one I want.

Once I try a new recipe, if I really like it, I add the printed copy to a notebook of favorites I keep in my kitchen.  If I don't care that much for a recipe, I easily delete it.

I know you can save recipes in your recipe box here on VBB, but I like having them right on my own computer storage and my backup sysstem.

Embarassed  I don't know how to do that.  I don't even know what a documents section is!
Oh, some things I can do because of fumbling stumbling around - but most I know nothing about.

AND I desperately need a new computer which I am afraid to buy because I wouldn't know  how or what to do with it.

Boy are you efficient & organized.I too save  recipesI like/hope to try in my own" folder of reipes, broken down into categories.Sometimes, I couldn't get my p.c. to format a PDF   of a recipe & just lazily saved it to myRECIPE BOX.  I NEVER thought to  CREATE A"BACKUP" FILE      just IN CASEEmbarassedFrown

I bought a book for my husband to help him learn the computer. It is from 1/2 price books and it was used but in good condition. The name of it is: Absolute Beginners Guide to Computer Basics. You can get a used one from Amazon.com starting at 1¢ + shipping. New ones start at $3.37 ea.
Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Absolute-Beginners-Guide-Computer-Basics/dp/0789728966  I still use it to refresh my memory from time to time and I also have the Windows XP for Dummies that I purchased at the same place.

To open a folder in your documents, when you turn your system on, click on start, there should be a list of different things pop up such as My Computer, My Music, My documents, etc. Click on documents and it will open. Then click on File in the tool bar at the top of the page (usually on the left) and click on new. Should show a list and have Folder in it. Click on it and it will be in the list of documents with a blank box beside it. You click inside that blank box and give it a name and hit enter or save. Then when you have a recipe to save, paste it to the notepad and hit the file button on that little page and click on save as and it will take you to a list that should have My Documents listed on it. Click on My Documents and it will open them up. Scroll to the new folder and click on it and it will ask if you want to save it. Click either yes or ok and that is it. Sounds confusing doesn't it? But do it several times just to practice (you can delete the notebook practice pages) and you will be able to do it very quickly.

Thanks Cam --  Some day I'll learn - some day I'll try.

I went to the small local college and took their computer class for - I forget the name - people over 60. It didn't help much.

My, Harriet, you sure are efficient and organized! I like that! I try to do that, but fall behind. I do have a Recipe folder in My Documents where I save recipes, but I haven't saved all of the VBB ones from my recipe box there. I really do need to take the time though and save them on a backup disk like you did. I guess I procrastinate at times when it comes to doing that.
But I definitely like you way of doing things!!!

Good luck, Nancy! Cam gave some pretty good instructions there....I like that! You just have to kind of play around with things until you learn how to do them. I do that and I've taught myself how to make address labels, envelope stickers, greeting cards, and more! It's fun! I just have to write down HOW I did it so I remember for the next time!!!
And I know what you mean about not knowing what to do if you buy a new computer. I had to buy a new one five years ago and I was fortunate enough to have my computer-skilled nephew from Florida visiting at the time. He set me all up and even got my Internet from my old computer set up on it. From then on, I was on my own.....all trial and error!!! But after five years, I am still learning new things here!!
I also bought a laptop a couple years ago because my cd drive on this 2005 PC gave out on me. I'm still learning to use the laptop, which I do not like as well because it is the new Vista and difficult to use. When I bought it, I didn't realize it would be that much difference! It's fun learning though.....and you will, too!!

Carol - that's what I'm using .... a little Dell laptop with Vista.  When I am forced to buy a new one is sure will be another little laptop.
