Much to my despair, I have found that our Costco is no longer carrying the 72 oz packages of Nestle Semi sweet Chocolate Chips.  Instead they have substituted a 56 oz  package of "Kirkland"

Much to my despair, I have found that our Costco is no longer carrying the 72 oz packages of Nestle Semi sweet Chocolate Chips.  Instead they have substituted a 56 oz  package of "Kirkland" Chocolate Chips.  After a blind taste test, my husband declared that he prefers the Nestle chips.  I do too.  I am particularly sad as I make cookies to send to my two grandsons at their colleges.  They get a new care package about once a month.  With the 72 oz package, I never worried about having enough chips.
I am curious about the amount of cacao in the Nestle chips.  The "Kirkland" chips claim 51%, but I could not find a number on the package for Nestle.
Is there any chance that your sales department can talk Costco into abandoning their own brand and bring back the Nestle??  I really miss them, and I'm not looking forward to having to go back and buy the smaller size bags of chips at the super market!!!

Hi Barbara.  I'm so sorry to here your Costco no longer intends to carry our Morsels.  I suggest checking with the store manager to see if they will reconsider.  Also, the cacao content of our Semi-sweet morsels is in the 40's. For proprietary reasons we do not divulge the exact amount. Our Dark Chocolate Morsels have a cacao content of 53% as indicated on the front of our packaging. I hope this was helpful to you.

Barbara,

Just my info for working roadshows at Costco there are different procedures for getting products in Costco. It's based on number of sales and the region that you are located for the product to continue at Costco. When you talk to the manager at your Costco ask them if other ones carry it or even check their website. Again this is just my understanding on how it works to have products in Costco. Hope this was helpful

My Costco has both.  I think for a while they had only the Kirkland brand then the Beautiful Yellow Bag came back.  I don't know if it was a supply issue or not, this was between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  But they now have both.  I sure hope they do not stop carrying Nestle's. And it is funny because once in a while they will have a "coupon" in the monthly coupon book for them and I always pick up 2 or 3 bags, whatever is the limit.
Sams carries the Nestle's. If you have a Sam's Club near you ask friends if they have a membership and have them pick up a bag or two for you.  Great way to save on memberships if you go with a friend that has one membership and take them to where you have a membership you both get the benefits of two places for no extra cost. Or just ask them to pick up a few bags for you.

I know that the Costco near us has sometimes had things today and the next time you go back its gone. Try and ask at customer service. Sometimes if enough people ask they will bring it back, but they do need to buy them too.

Get enough cohorts to talk, e-mail,  write etc. to the manager and to the corporate office.  If enough customers make their concerns known perhaps you'll get some action.

Good for Costco. I just found out about this when I got into mom's chocolate stash and read the label. Ethically sourced chocolate. Quick google search and I see they changed Chocolate chips too. If so I will be buying some TODAY. Nestle is one of the WORST brands for murky supply chains.

I for one don't want to be biting into a brownie wondering if a child was injured or killed to get me my chocolate fix.

Let Costco know they don't win the taste test, and maybe they'll improve the recipe but dangit I am SO excited I can buy AFFORDABLE chocolate and feel confident that the I am not exploiting people from Cote d'Ivoire. Their blood is not on my hands. Laughing
