Why does the 29 oz can of pure pumpkin (which I've been using for years) say it makes 2 pies, but the 30 oz can of pumpkin MIX (pre-spiced) says it only makes ONE pie?  That does not make any sen

Libby's not consistent with Pumpkin packaging

Why does the 29 oz can of pure pumpkin (which I've been using for years) say it makes 2 pies, but the 30 oz can of pumpkin MIX (pre-spiced) says it only makes ONE pie?  That does not make any sense.  A can with 1 oz LESS makes TWICE as many pies?

Hi John and welcome to VBB.  I would assume that since you have to add sugar and other ingredients to the pure pumpkin it would probably double in volume for the 2 pies.  The mix already has all the additions in it.  Hope this helps.

Hi John.  Our Easy Pumpkin Pie mix has all of the ingredients to make a Pumpkin Pie except for Evaporated Milk and eggs.  That is why the bigger can makes only one pie.
