I love recipes with Libby's pumpkin, but have great difficulty locating the pumpkin except at Thanksgiving. Does anyone else experience this problem?

Libby's canned pumpkin

I love recipes with Libby's pumpkin, but have great difficulty locating the pumpkin except at Thanksgiving. Does anyone else experience this problem?

I don't think I have ever had a problem locating pumpkin. 
Just a little tip although not perfect but close...If you really want to make that pumpkin recipe and can not find pumpkin use sweet potato.  If you get the canned stuff make sure you drain it well and measure.  I often will just bake a sweet potato or two to get what I need.

Also talk to the store managers if they don't know you are looking for an item they have no need to order it.

I use Sweet Potatoes also my family likes it just as well.

Hi Angela F,  I'm sorry to hear you are having a problem finding Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin.  As you may know, we began the 2010 season with zero inventory levels at all our locations—for the first time in our history. As a result, we made some critical decisions early on:
We planted earlier, thus allowing an earlier harvest
We planted more pumpkin, increasing our acreage significantly
We expanded our growing zones
We ran our production facility non-stop once the harvest began in August
And, we shipped more product, earlier
All of the steps above helped us to restock store shelves in time for the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday 
and baking season. However, we also heard that consumers bought Libby's pumpkin with great
enthusiasm! While we were glad people were finding the pumpkin they wanted, it did leave us 
without any reserve of pumpkin for the start of the 2011 season.
But, favorable weather conditions this season allowed for a healthy crop and bountiful harvest, 
and production is underway. We anticipate a shipment date  of September 12 with expected 
store arrivals within 2 weeks to follow. So you can start looking for Libby's Pumpkin at your 
local supermarket around the last  week of September, first two weeks of October.

Thank you for responding along with all of the VBB. I could try using sweet potatoes, but I really love pumpkin and use it a lot. I will be looking forward to locating the pumpkin in my favorite stores (Publix, Wal-Mart, Price Chopper) once again.

Nikki,
Thanks for the tip. I will try substituting sweet potatoes, which I love too, in place of the pumpkin until I can get the pumpkin in the stores.
