Just curious about something.
I was looking for a recipe and I came across one, Chocolate Cream Cheese Flan, that uses a product that I think is no longer available.  Choco Bake.   Is there a substitution that is recommended?  Possibly melting down the same quantity of unsweetened chocolate and adding a table spoon or so of  melted butter?

Nikki, I was searching this site for a biscotti recipe and on the second page there is a list of Nestle products, one being chocobake. There is also a place to search where to find the product in your area. We have it here where I live.

I've collected several Choco Bake recipes but it's not available  anywhere in this area.
It IS available at a couple on-line places but the price is too high - especially with shipping.

Sub 1 Tablespoon of shortening and 3 Tablespoons of cocoa powder for 1 ounce of choco bake. Or use 1 ounce of melted unsweetened chocolate that has cooled slightly.

Nikki, do you have Kroger stores in your area? All the Krogers in my area carry it, but only on Walmart does.

I found this substitute online for the Choco Bake.

For the equivalent of 1 oz of baking cho. stir together 3Tbs of cocoa powder & just enough oil (start with 1 Tbs. & add more if necessary) to liquify it.

I was pretty sure the substitution would be either cocoa powder and a bit of oil or just melted unsweetened chocolate.  I really prefer the "home made" version as I think the actual product contained trans-fats.  Trying to avoid them as much as possible.

Thank you for this substitution.  It's always nice to learn about new substitutions.
