How do I find the swapped recipies. I can't seem to locate them
Posted by Anna Marie G

Hi, Anna Marie.  Swapped recipes are back and you can find them in your Recipe Box (if you saved any) and also in search results when you look for new recipes.  We are working to add a search field to view "just swapped recipes" so you don't have to dig through all of them to find just those from the community.  Adding the Swapped Recipe search field is a change to the "foundation" of the site; and can take some time.

Why is it that when I get to "Swapped Recipes"....all I get is jibberish?  Is it me or you?
Posted by Darla M

Hi Darla, we have noticed if you specifically search Swapped Recipes there are problems just as you described.  If you search an ingredient or specific recipe you can see Swapped Recipes mixed in with the regular recipes.  You should also be able to see any Swapped Recipes that you saved in your recipe box.  Don't worry we are still working on the Swapped Recipes.

VBB, do you remember that on the old site there was a section where one could post a recipe & share it with everyone & if someone wanted to save it, they could save it to their recipe box? Well, I think that is what we all would like to have on this site= to be able to click on shared recipes& then be able to click on save to "my recipe box" , also to be able to post the recipe in the shared section & not all over the forums.
How many of you agree with me?
I agree
I do not care
I do not want to see shared recipes
Please bring back the shared recipes the way they were on the old site

Hello Fran. At this time, you can add a Swapped (VBB Baker Recipe) to your Recipe Box, as long as the contributor has elected to make the recipe public to the other users on the website. These recipe are searched for at this time along with our other recipes, and have a symbol next to them saying "VBB Baker Recipe". We are working on adding a search field to view just the Swapped Recipes so you don't have to dig through all of them to find just those from the community.  Adding the Swapped Recipe search field is a change to the "foundation" of the site; and can take some time. We appreciate your patience.

Hope this helps! If not, let me know, and I will do my best to help you! Smile

Good morning Carol!  The Dark Chocolate Morsels are currently being shipped out to stores nationwide.  Although they might take a few months for you to see them in your grocery store in California, we encourage you to ask your store manager for them.  We hope you enjoy baking with one our our new products.

FranM, me too. I would love to be able to type in User Recipe or Swapped Recipes and have the hundreds of pages pop up to search thru.

I know it takes time but, it will be 6 months as of April 6th since the new site launched and it is still full of pit falls and problems. I have given up trying to click the back arrow after I post and just go to the top and hit forums and then click on the forum I was in. It is so much faster that way and I don't have to click back over and over and over and wait for it to say "done" at the bottom in the tool tray after each click.

As far as the shared recipes that I had saved to my box, I have copied most of them into my personal cookbook in my Cook'n program and I gave up trying to find any more.

If a recipe calls for baking powder AND baking soda, can I omit the baking soda and add more baking powder instead?

I would say you need to add both the soda and powder because they each have a specific function that is not interchangeable. The baking powder makes the recipe rise and the soda neutralizes the acids in the recipe plus adds tenderness and some leavening.

I second what Verlee ... both baking powder and baking soda are important.
Mary O -- welcome to the VBB board.
Hope to see you again soon.

Good morning Mary!  Baking soda used alone has no leavening properties, but used with some acidic ingredients, like sour milk
or molasses does cause the recipe to rise.  Baking powder, on the other hand, has the greatest rising impact, when the recipe contacts heat from the oven.  Although there is no substitute for baking soda, you can use 5/8 teaspoon of cream of tartar plus
1/4 teaspoon baking soda as a substitute for 1 teaspoon of baking powder.

My choc chip cookies come out flat and crisp and I like them thick and chewy.  Could it be my oven? I have a gas range.  My sister has an electric oven and her cookies are just the way I like them.  We seem to do everything else the same.
